Recently, our 2024-2025 Corps of Cadets became “certified.” So, what exactly does that mean? At Camden Military Academy, we have a two-week period at the start of the school year called “Certification.” During this time, cadets are without phones or gaming devices, encouraging them to socialize, make friends, and quickly adjust to campus life without distractions. The primary purpose of Certification is to train new cadets on the academy’s standards. This includes properly wearing uniforms, participating in fallouts, and even learning how to make their beds. Each company is graded on how well they meet these standards. For instance, Personal Appearance is evaluated by ensuring cadets wear the correct socks (no ankle or logo socks), have the appropriate shirts and shorts, tie their shoelaces, and stay clean-shaven. At the conclusion of Certification, cadets gain more freedoms: they can wear civilian clothes around campus instead of the Summer PT uniform, sleep in on weekends, and their leaders will ease up on strict enforcement of minor details. Congratulations to our Corps!
