Coming off a week off, the Camden Military Academy Track & Field Team traveled to
Orangeburg Prep Academy yesterday for a second time this season. The team was able to place
2nd against nine other schools with over one-hundred team points. Again, several school records
were set and four more athletes gained a ticket to the State Meet in May. The day started with the
4×800 meter relay team winning 1st place and setting a new school record. The team saw a new
lineup with Kyle Marinko, Prayas Shrestha, Mason Tirone, and Christian Snell (9:23.66). Three
of these athletes went on to hit State qualifying times, beginning with the 800-meter race (Kyle
Marinko, 2:16.93; Christian Snell, 2:14.19) and the 1600-meter race (Mason Tirone, 5:12.23).
The last runner for the day to make a State qualifying time was Caleb Terrell in the 200-meter
race (24.52). In field events, two new school records were set. In Discus, Dewitt Cure placed 1st
place and set a new school record with a 123-06 throw. Also, Aaron Ness set the new school
record for Javelin with a 93-09 throw as well. Overall, it was another strong showing for the
CMA Track & Field team and we are officially two weeks away from the SCISA Regional Meet.
Stay tuned for more!
