Last week, Chapel Hunter had the joy of taking some students to Narroway Productions to experience The Gospel According to Tennessee. Set in 1926 and inspired by a true family story, this fast-paced musical transported us to the rolling hills of east Tennessee, where gospel truths are shared through the imagination of a young boy named Tennessee. The cast’s energy, the timeless Southern classics, and the heartfelt storyline had the students fully engaged from start to finish. One of the highlights of the day came during intermission when the cast invited the audience to join them in the Tennessee Waltz, a moment that had our students laughing, learning, and dancing right along with the performers.
After the curtain call, the excitement still lingered as we piled into Chick-fil-A for dinner. Over chicken sandwiches and fries, the students relived their favorite scenes and shared what stood out to them from the story. It was more than just an outing; it was a chance for them to connect with history, culture, and faith in a way that was lively and memorable. Narroway’s ability to weave powerful messages into an entertaining performance made this trip one that our students will not soon forget.
