This past weekend, the Camden Military Academy Junior Leadership Team traveled to Camp Cannon for a hands-on experience focused on learning what it means to become a better and more effective leader. Throughout the trip, cadets participated in activities designed to strengthen teamwork, communication, trust, and problem-solving skills. The experience gave our Junior Leadership cadets an opportunity to work together while learning lessons they can bring back to the Corps of Cadets at Camden Military Academy.
One of the activities was the human knot, which required the group to work together to figure out how to untangle themselves without breaking the chain. Everyone had ideas about how to solve the challenge, but the cadets quickly learned that success depended on communicating clearly and listening to one another. Instead of everyone speaking at once, they learned to share ideas one at a time, listen carefully, and work together toward a common goal.
Another activity challenged the team to complete a task while blindfolded. Cadets had to communicate with one another to safely move from Point A to Point B. Without being able to see, each cadet had to trust his teammates and listen closely to instructions. The challenge demonstrated just how important trust, communication, and teamwork are when leading others.
Overall, the trip to Camp Cannon was a valuable learning experience for the Camden Military Academy Junior Leadership Team. Cadets learned that leadership is about much more than telling others what to do. A strong leader listens, communicates clearly, earns the trust of others, works alongside the team, and helps everyone succeed.

The lessons learned at Camp Cannon will help these cadets continue developing into stronger leaders at Camden Military Academy and prepare them to lead with confidence in the future.
