On the evening of Friday, March 6, 2026, the Honor Band from Camden Military Academy delivered an impressive performance at Springdale Hall during the academy’s annual Excalibur Event. The performance showcased the dedication, discipline, and musical talent of the academy’s cadets and quickly became one of the highlights of the evening.
The Honor Band was made up of 14 cadets representing a wide range of grade levels, from 8th grade through 12th grade. Despite the differences in age and experience, the group performed with remarkable unity and professionalism. Their hard work and preparation were evident throughout the evening, earning enthusiastic praise from faculty members, administrators, and parents in attendance.
The band performed a diverse musical program that spanned centuries of composition. One selection was A Renaissance Canon, originally composed in 1567 by Thomas Tallis. The piece brought a classical and historical tone to the program, highlighting the cadets’ ability to interpret and perform music from the Renaissance era with precision and respect for its traditional style.
The program also featured the exciting and dramatic theme from Pirates of the Caribbean, composed by Klaus Badelt in 2003. This modern cinematic piece added energy and excitement to the performance and demonstrated the band’s versatility. The cadets captured the adventurous spirit of the music, leaving the audience energized and impressed.
Leading the ensemble was the band’s conductor, Captain Charles Ashmore, whose guidance and encouragement helped bring the performance together. Reflecting on the evening, Captain Ashmore shared his pride in the group’s accomplishment.
“I am extremely proud of the effort from these young men,” he said. “They are a true blessing from the Lord.”
The Honor Band’s performance at the Excalibur event not only entertained the audience but also reflected the commitment to excellence that is central to Camden Military Academy’s mission. With such a successful performance behind them, the Honor Band is already looking forward to returning to the stage at next year’s Excalibur event and building on the momentum of this year’s success.
