Yesterday, Camden Military Academy held its annual Senior Advisement Orientation for all rising senior cadets, marking an important step as these young men begin preparing for their final year of high school and the opportunities that await them after graduation.
The orientation introduced cadets to the college application process and provided a helpful overview of Common App, the primary platform used by many colleges and universities across the country. During the session, cadets learned how the platform works, what information they will need to submit applications, and how to begin organizing their materials early so that the process runs smoothly during the busy months ahead.
In addition to learning about the application platform, cadets were given clear timelines and expectations for the summer and the upcoming fall semester. These timelines serve as a roadmap to help students stay on track with important milestones such as completing applications, requesting recommendation letters, preparing essays, and meeting key deadlines.
The orientation also emphasized the many post-graduation pathways available to Camden cadets. Students were encouraged to begin exploring opportunities such as ROTC scholarships, service academy applications, and traditional college admissions. Faculty and advisors highlighted how starting early allows cadets to present their strongest applications while also giving them time to carefully consider which path best aligns with their goals and interests.
Beyond simply explaining the application process, the event aimed to help cadets begin shifting their mindset toward senior year. As the final year at Camden Military Academy approaches, students are encouraged to reflect on the leadership skills, discipline, and character they have developed during their time as cadets and to begin thinking about how those qualities will carry them into the next chapter of their lives.
For many cadets, the Senior Advisement Orientation serves as a launching point for one of the most exciting and important years of their academic journey. With the guidance of Camden’s faculty and staff, cadets will continue receiving support as they navigate applications, scholarships, and career decisions throughout the year.
At Camden Military Academy, preparing young men for success beyond graduation is a central part of our mission. We look forward to working closely with each rising senior as they pursue their goals and take the next step toward their future.
