On Tuesday, February 17th, our band director, Robert Slade took the following cadets to perform at the commissioning of the South Carolina 250 permanent exhibit at the South Carolina State Fairgrounds.
Cadets Weller, James, Hamlin, and Scott represented Camden Military Academy well as they performed the fife and drum! Read below and excerpt from last night’s event.

Our South Carolina State Fair exhibit now has a permanent home as the SC250 Revolutionary South Carolina Discovery Center at the fairgrounds
Through this partnership, the exhibit will be available year-round for reserved visits creating an ongoing space where South Carolina’s Revolutionary story can be explored, experienced, and shared.
Before tonight’s official announcement at the Ruff Building, we spent an incredible day across the Midlands with stops at the South Carolina State Museum, a marker unveiling in downtown Columbia, the Lexington County Museum, and the Cayce Riverwalk
Thank you to the Lexington and Richland 250 Committees for helping us create such a memorable start to our commission’s first gathering of 2026.
The work continues tomorrow at 10 a.m. at the South Carolina State Museum for our commission meeting. Join us as we keep the momentum going! Huzzah
