Last week, Camden Military Academy’s Math Competition Team traveled to the Sumter Civic Center to compete in the SCISA Math Meet, joining more than 20 schools from across the state in a challenging and competitive academic event. The meet provided an excellent opportunity for our cadets to test their mathematical skills, problem-solving abilities, and teamwork against some of the best young minds in South Carolina.
This year’s team was composed of a strong and dedicated group of cadets: Keanan Chiu (L1), Tobey Harrill (L2), Matthew Wong (Mid), Finnegan Callaway (R2), and Jack Bregenzer (R1). Leading the group was Team Captain Matthew Wong, who demonstrated leadership, focus, and determination throughout the competition. Each cadet played an important role in representing Camden Military Academy with pride and professionalism.
Competing in a high-level academic environment is no small task, and our cadets rose to the occasion. As a team, they earned an overall ranking of 11th out of more than 20 participating teams, a solid performance that reflects both their preparation and commitment. Among the team, Finnegan Callaway stood out with the highest individual score, showcasing exceptional skill and composure under pressure.
Events like the SCISA Math Meet are about more than just rankings, they are about growth, confidence, and the pursuit of excellence. Our cadets gained valuable experience competing in a fast-paced academic setting while strengthening their ability to think critically and work collaboratively.
We are incredibly proud of this group and all they accomplished. With several returning members and strong leadership already emerging, the future of Camden Military Academy’s Math Team is bright. We look forward to seeing Finnegan Callaway step into a leadership role next year and continue building on this year’s success.
