Each new cadet here at CMA goes through a process called, Certification, which takes place the first two weeks of the academic year. During this acclamation period cadets settle in to their barracks, learn new skills, military bearing, and the expectations of the academy. Also during this time, all technology is withheld from these cadets, including their phones! These two weeks can sometimes feel like an eternity, especially when you feel you are cut off from the rest of the world. However, some cadets enjoy the time away from technology and social media and are more present in the moment.

"The first 2 weeks without my phone was a tough experience but I adjusted fairly quickly. We had a lot of free time and activities to occupy our time. I spent a lot of it going to the pool and Carlisle house. It helped me to seek out some new friends and involve myself in the company. When I got my phone back I realized I actually haven't missed much! It was honestly really refreshing to sort of reset and get in the groove of school. I can't lie though, I am very excited now that I have it back!"
