This Week at CMA Nov 4-10
On Monday, we are hosting representatives from Alabama to inform us of the opportunities their University offers.
On Tuesday, our Varsity Football Spartans will have their pictures made. We are very proud of our CMA Spartans football team this year. They played with great effort all year long. Smile pretty guys....better yet, put your "game face" on for the pic! In the evening, our 7th graders will be treated to a special movie.
On Wednesday, all cadets and faculty members are required to attend the "Operation Get Smart" Program. Operation Get Smart (OGS) is a crime prevention/public awareness program sponsored by the South Carolina Department of Corrections. It was implemented in 1976 and for more than past 35 years OGS has been a model program used by other states interested in implementing effective crime prevention programs. The program is aimed primarily at youth in an effort to deter them from making poor decisions resulting in criminal behavior and prison sentences.
On Thursday, cadets who signed up for and are in good academic and behavior standing will depart for one of the most popular and exciting trips of the year...WASHINGTON DC!
On Friday, we will celebrate Arbor Day - This is a time not only to celebrate Arbor Day in South Carolina but also to think about the benefits planted trees can provide our homes, schools, and institutions; our cities and towns; and of course our forests. Trees...
• lend beauty to the South Carolina landscape;
• cool us with the shade from their branches and the moisture from their leaves;
• reduce air pollution;
• protect us from damaging winds and water;
• provide food and homes for birds and wild animals;
• camouflage harsh scenery and soften angular cityscapes;
• filter noise;
• prevent soil erosion;
• mean about 30,000 jobs to South Carolina; and
• provide more than 5,000 wood, paper, and chemical products.
Also, on Friday, in honor of our Veterans and Veterans Day, "C" Company and "Band and Staff" Company will participate in VFW (Veterans Foreign Wars).
As with the other days of the week, Saturday is a busy day with cadets taking the SAT, participating in and attending CAP (Civil Air Patrol) Airshow, and a Drill Meet.
On Sunday, Chaplain Walker will lead our Sunday Morning Chapel Services and bring this week's message/sermon. At 4:00, the cadets will participate in Dress Parade. Everyone is invited to attend! The cadets do a great job!
