The Camden Military Academy Fife and Drum Corps Performance
"The Camden Military Academy Fife and Drum Corps performed for 3,000 people Nov 5th and 6th at Historic Camden's annual Revolutionary War Field Days. The cadets, along with CW2 Robert Slade, joined forces with three other musicians to march the reenactors to and from the battlefield, playing Yankee Doodle and Chester. During the reenactment, the drums played a cadence to facilitate field movements. Not only did the cadets perform for large crowds, they also immersed themselves in living history for two full days, wearing period clothing, participating in two battlefield reenactments, and interacting with many history buffs. A video appeared on The State Newspaper website featuring the Corps, and a short video was filmed by SCETV of the Corps playing Chester to appear in a movie for South Carolina Middle School Students. Many thanks goes to Michael Nelson and Steve Ware at the Guilford Courthouse National Military Park for allowing us to borrow the uniforms and drums. We look forward to many more experiences like this!"
