The 2017 Excalibur Society Dinner was held on Friday, March 3rd at the historic Springdale Hall Club in Camden, SC. It is the time of year that Camden Military Academy shows its appreciation to the new members, as well as the donors who continue to support the academy with at least a $1,000 a year donation. Cadets participate in various ways, one of which is serving as valet and greeting each member as they drive up to the event. Photos are taken of the participants and a five course dinner is served.
The CMA Jazz Ensemble is directed by CWO2 Robert Slade and they entertained the group during the serving of dessert. Battalion Commander of the Corps of Cadets, Cadet LTC Jake Dean, spoke to the members about his “Camden Experience.” Upon completion of his remarks, there was a standing ovation by all in attendance.
Colonel Boland then announced the new Members of the Excalibur Society. Although not all of them were able to attend, CMA recognized those who were present. This year there were 9 new members who had donated $1,000 in the fiscal school year. There were also 5 new Knight Members who had given a total of $10,000 or more. The Bronze Knight Member level, with a lifetime gift of $25,000, increased by 2 new members, and a new Silver Knight was recognized with a lifetime giving of more than $50,000.
