Studying Shakespeare

In Col. Hartley’s class we recently researched and studied about William Shakespeare. We watched movie versions of three of what I think are his best plays.

The first play we watched, “A Midsummer Night’s Dream”, had all kinds of mystical creatures such as fairies. Cadet Grantham said that the movie was full of twists and turns. We also had a couple of cadets go down to the Fine Arts Center of Kershaw County to be in the local production of the play.
The next movie we watched, “Macbeth”, was full of treason, blood, deception, and treacherous madness. The movie took place in medieval times. There was a prince named Macbeth who wanted to be king, so he killed the present king and took his throne. As soon as he took the throne, it was taken away from him. He lost his mind and also ended up losing his head.
The last movie on our journey through Shakespeare’s plays was “Hamlet”. This play was filled with treason and heartbreak. Hamlet was the prince of Denmark whose father was murdered by his uncle. His uncle murdered the king to take the throne of Denmark. In the end, Hamlet finds out, loses his mother, kills the uncle, and dies from poison.
