The Kershaw County Robotics Team, composed of Camden Military Academy, Camden High School, and Lugoff/Elgin High School, did exceedingly well at the Palmetto Regionals last weekend. The 120 pound robot that Camden cadets help to build and program was very well designed and built.  The robot climbed to first place early in the qualification matches and defended the number 1 ranked position for several matches.  Unfortunately, we had an electric clutch burn out which was crucial to our robot's ability to score points. We brought a back up clutch but it too burnt out. Without the ability to shoot the ball through the high scoring goals our team started to drop in the rankings. After a valiant effort our robot managed to finish 18th out of 67 teams and had a win-loss record of 6-3. Despite the fall from grace after the malfunctions, our cadets had a great time in Myrtle Beach.
