Paula Bordner, new librarian, shares her thoughts about CMA
Through the years as a lifelong resident of Camden, South Carolina, I have heard about Camden Military Academy. I have driven by the school many times and have seen the cadets at my church and around town. Since beginning my work as the librarian at the school a few weeks ago, however, I have had the privilege of experiencing the school for the first time. And what a wonderful experience it has been!
This week has been an especially exciting week of “firsts” for me. The enthusiasm and comraderie at the Spartan Challenge rivaled that of any sporting event I have witnessed. It was such a thrill and so encouraging to see our Junior High and Junior Varsity football teams play their first games of the season. Though the numbers on the scoreboard indicated a different result, the CMA players and coaches were all winners! As the games progessed, football skills improved and teamwork grew. Their spirit, determination, and good sportmanship were a lesson for the spectators as well.
Receiving my first CMA paycheck was another “first” this week. Though important to my family’s financial well-being, the honor of being part of the Camden Military Academy family of cadets and staff is my real reward. I am so excited to see what next week will bring!
