JV Football Season Review

The Junior Varsity Football team was an amazing collective of very determined young men from all over the United States. They came together in late August and meshed very well right from the start. We installed an offense that was very similar to the offense being run by our varsity team. We are trying to build the football program here at the Academy, and bridge the gap between Varsity and Junior Varsity. A good program is built by having continuity. We played only two games this year, and even though we did not get the result we were looking for in either contest, these great young men didn’t quit on themselves or each other. We played a very well-coached Cardinal Newman team in the rain in Columbia and lost that contest 18-2. Next, we played Lewisville. It was a very difficult contest, where we were extremely over-matched. The character of our young men was evident, as they continued to fight to the very end. We lost that contest 40-0. We gave three awards this year and it was hard to pick the recipients. Our offensive MVP went to Jeffery Stith. Our defensive MVP award recipient was Jackson Headly. Our coaches award went to a young man that worked hard every day, never missed a practice, and improved each and every practice. Jace Bodner was the winner. I will miss this team and there are several players who will be moving up to varsity. Go Spartans!!
