In late February, the members from Camden Military Academy Junior Leadership met up with the rest of the group of Kershaw County at the South Carolina State House.

Upon arrival, we began shaking hands with members of the House of Representatives and State Senators. We made our way to the Senate Chamber to learn about the history of the men on the wall as well as allow us to step on the floor and observe everything up close. After that, we headed to the Chamber of the House of Representatives and listened to the Speaker of the House ask "yay" and "nay" for various articles in consideration. We then spoke to Senator Thomas McElveen over McAllister's sandwiches and gained insight on the importance of community. After this, we made our way to the front of the State House to take pictures with the group, and then we began heading home.

Overall, this was a very enlightening experience and I'm thankful for the men and women who made it possible for us to have the kind of access we were given.
