Important Statement Regarding Cross-Country and Football

Yesterday, Col. Boland had a personal conversation with Dr. Linda Bell, South Carolina’s official State Epidemiologist, regarding COVID-19 and Camden Military Academy’s participation in fall sports. After careful consultation and consideration, the football and cross-country seasons have been cancelled but all practices and workouts will continue. The decision to cancel the fall sports season was a difficult one as athletics is an essential part of what we do at CMA. However, as you may have seen in the news, COVID-19 cases in North Carolina have recently spiked which led us to make this very difficult decision as two of our three scheduled opponents are from North Carolina. It would simply be irresponsible to have our athletes potentially exposed to the virus and possibly bring the virus back to our contained campus. As you know, we have been blessed to not have experienced any COVID-19 cases on our campus. Please know that this decision was made after consulting with Dr. Bell and concluding that CMA’s primary responsibility is to maintain the health of our cadets, faculty and staff.
