Importance of a Mentor

Everyone in their life has a mentor at some point. My mentor at Camden Military Academy was Command Sergeant Major Wilder. He was like a father to other cadets and me at CMA. When I arrived at CMA in seventh grade, he showed me what I had to do to succeed in school and life. He believed in me and encouraged me in everything I did.
He always said, “be where you’re supposed to be when you’re supposed to be there and do what you’re supposed to do when you’re supposed to do it.” All of his cadets would try their best to live by those words every day of their lives. He often told us that if you lived by those words, then you would be successful. I have done my best to live up to CSM Wilder’s standards, and I can truly say that I have come so far in my six years here at CMA. CSM Wilder was always there for me and would talk to me if I was ever down. He taught me many things, but most of all, he taught me how to grow into a better person. Thank you, sir!
