Camden Military Academy was fortunate to have a day without the rain, as we celebrated homecoming this year. Campus tours were given to some alumni who had never been on the campus and others who hadn’t seen Camden since the early 60’s.
A group of Carlisle Military School alumni from the 70’s attended for their first time. Evidence of Carlisle was seen not only in the Color Guard on the CSM Martain Parade Field, but also in the memorabilia room in the Risher Administration Building. There is also the infamous football trophy that traveled between Carlisle and Camden with engravings of the school, score, and year that the rivalry game was won from 1959-1976. The Carlisle House also stood out in welcoming decor with the original Carlisle Military School sign and guns displayed outside its door.
Parents and alumni enjoyed lunch in the dining hall with the cadets. The parents were also encouraged to have their son dine with them at their table instead of their regular company table (if not on the football team, who had eaten lunch earlier).
The corps of cadets marched with precision and pride for all in attendance on the CSM Martain Parade Field, as well as on the football field to welcome the team of Spartans. It was a great day of camaraderie for all old classmates, as well as new friends that were made that day.
