The 2019 lacrosse season started out with three disappointing losses to Cusabo Lacrosse, Savannah Country Day School, and Westwood High School. Injuries and illness took their toll on the Spartan ranks but the team never gave up in any of the games. The team's hard work, dedication, and perseverance paid off today when CMA travelled to Sumter to play Laurence Manning Academy.
The Spartans defeated the Swamp Cats 12-3 with good passing and shooting, and solid, fundamental defense. Goalkeeper and team Captain Imani Bowie (Augusta, GA) made eight saves in the crease. James Leland (Mt. Pleasant, SC) led the attack today with six goals, bringing his season total to twelve. Callen Nash (West Ashley, SC) tallied four goals, with a total of seven for the season. Caleb Deak (Cary, NC) and Michael Merritt (Charlotte, NC) both found the net for the first time this season with one goal apiece.
Camden will have nearly a week to recover fully until it hosts Laurence Manning next Wednesday afternoon at five. The team is practicing harder every day and the results are showing. Please come out and enjoy a game!
