Members of the Camden Military Academy Band provided music for the Camden Military Academy National Honor Society Induction Ceremony on Friday 18 FEB 2022. The ceremony took place inside the beautiful campus chapel. We chose to play a piece titled Fanfare and Flourishes, by James Curnow, to provide music for the processional of the members of the National Honor Society. Fanfare and Flourishes find their roots in another musical composition titled Te Deum by Marc-Antione Charpentier. Charpentier was a French composer of music during the Baroque Period. He wrote Te Deum to celebrate battle victories, but I find that the beginning sounds like the French Overtures written during the same period for King Louis XIV of France. The French Overture features dotted rhythms that provide a very regal and grandiose style. Curnow combines the dotted rhythm idea with a fantastic brass fanfare that makes for a modern impressive sound. Cadets that played in the band for this performance are Steele, Ventura, Mancuso, Harrison, Lenrow, Gallagher, Goodwin, Campbell, Pate, Wawak, Simmons, Scherer, and Conway. These cadets did a great job and enjoyed playing Fanfare and Flourishes. I had a great time too!
