Civil Air Patrol Change in Command Ceremony

This past weekend was the 2017 South Carolina Wing Conference and Change in Command. This was the first conference our squadron has ever attended! The conference happens once every two years and is a chance for CAP members around South Carolina to share their best practices and activities with the rest of the wing. Members were also recognized for outstanding service and achievement within the wing. Lt Col Glenn Melberg was awarded a commendation for his fourteen years of service as Camden Military Academy Squadron Commander. I am also thrilled to announce Maj. Del Sills was awarded the SC Wing Safety Officer of the Wing Award. We took six cadets to the conference, which was held in Columbia, SC. They were able to meet and network with other cadets and senior members in South Carolina. The Change in Command Ceremony for the new Wing Commander took place during the evening banquet. Col Lee Safley accepted his new command from now former Wing Commander, Francis Smith. During the meal, I was approached by the Commander-Select, Col Lee Safley, to choose one of our cadets to participate in the Change in Command Ceremony. This was a huge honor and testament to all that our cadets have accomplished this year! It was a great weekend and we took home a lot of great information and made many friends!
