Civil Air Patrol has started back for the 2022-2023 school year. We are excited to announce that Lt Col Melberg has taken over as the new Squadron Commander for the Camden Military Academy Cadet Squadron. Lt Col Melberg is a retired Air Force fighter pilot and has flown multiple aircraft to include the F-4 Phantom and A-10 Warthog. On Tuesday, September 13, The Camden Squadron kicked off the year with 15 new cadets! The senior members of the squadron spoke about what Civil Air Patrol does and showed new cadets what the uniforms and rank look like. Cadets even got to use flight simulators and fly drones! This year, our CAP squadron plans to train for search and rescue missions to include map reading, compass navigation and radio communications. Our CAP cadets will also learn to fly drones, ride in Cessna-172 single engine aircraft, and learn leadership skills. If you have a cadet at CMA, be sure to encourage them to check out the Civil Air Patrol. Meetings are Tuesdays after school from 3:30-5:00!
