I was lucky this year to be selected for our school Junior Leadership program. The Kershaw County Junior Leadership is a high school student leadership development program sponsored by the Kershaw County School District, Camden Military Academy and the Kershaw County Chamber of Commerce. It is open to juniors and seniors at Camden, Camden Military Academy, Lugoff-Elgin and North Central high schools who submit an application or receive a nomination from school faculty.

Students from all of the area high schools will meet monthly to develop their leadership skills and styles. This past weekend we participated in a two-day retreat to learn the different types of leadership styles. We also had fun during our team building exercises. My favorite part of the weekend was the ropes course in which we participated. It really encouraged teamwork and encouraged students to try new things.
