This year the drama class decided to deviate from the typical “Bullying Play” and have a play about teens driving under the influence. The cadets worked hard on their lines and acting skills, and they did a wonderful job portraying a family with alcoholism and a teen who had a tragic accident killing his best friend! Hopefully the cadets learned something about drinking and driving!

My idea for the Drama class was to perform the play Frankenstein in October. The students wanted to have a haunted house again! I knew it would be a huge undertaking, but I agreed. The cadets wanted to make the haunted house more creepy and scary than the one the year before. The cadets figured out how to make rooms out of PVC pipes and cover them with black tarps. They built somewhat of a maze with moss, spider webs, spiders, and snakes! We added clowns and a bloody bathroom scene that was different from last year. I felt like the setup was very creative and spooky! Everyone used their different abilities to make their areas of the Haunted House a success!

For the rest of the year we will continue to study the history of the theatre including a section on Shakespeare and musical theatre, with a look at some Broadway plays! Hopefully we will be able to have a talent show this year which is a very popular event!!
