An Afternoon of Records!

The Camden Military Academy Track & Field Team took a trip to Wilson Hall and competed against ten different schools last week. The team placed 4th, but left the meet with a few new school records and five more State qualifying events. The afternoon started off well when Cason Pickett qualified for State by launching to a 18-01 mark in the Long Jump. This was followed up by a State qualifying throw by Dewitt Cure in the Discus at 117-06 (new school record). Also, Patirck Offiah threw the Javelin at 87.07 and now holds the new school record as well.

As for the running events, we have two new State qualifiers for the 3200-meter run with Prayas Shrestha (11:39.04) and Mason Tirone (11:17.03). Also, Christian Snell was able to grab the new school record in the 1600-meter race with a 4:57.65 time. As the evening went on, the relay races began and the competition was strong between the schools. The 4×100 relay team stepped on to the track (first time this year) and secured a State qualifying time at 48.14. The team members include Michael McCosh, Jayven Watkins, Tyler Shongo, and Caleb Terrell. To end the night, the 4×400 relay race was held as the last event. At the previous meet, the team missed the State qualifying time by only three seconds (4:03). However, the team was able to qualify for State with time to spare, when they ran a 3:56.87. The team members include Cohen DeCort, Tavin Sawyer, Jeremiah Palmer, and Andrew Barbee. A big thanks to all the parents and staff that came out in support. The team is looking forward to seeing what is in store at the next meet!
