Pictured below is the newly promoted Cadet Second Lieutenant Noah Dyson proudly holding his General Billy Mitchell Award and ribbon. This achievement represents a major milestone in his Civil Air Patrol (CAP) journey and was recognized at our weekly squadron meeting. The Mitchell Award is one of the most prestigious honors in the CAP Cadet Program, symbolizing not only academic achievement but also leadership growth, personal discipline, and a strong commitment to excellence. Lt Dyson’s dedication and perseverance through the various stages of the cadet program truly exemplify the CAP Core Values of Integrity, Volunteer Service, Excellence, and Respect.
To earn the General Billy Mitchell Award, cadets must complete a comprehensive series of requirements, including passing rigorous leadership and aerospace exams, completing a week-long encampment, and demonstrating both physical fitness and leadership proficiency throughout the program. The award signifies the completion of Phase II of the CAP Cadet Program and marks the transition from a non-commissioned officer to a commissioned cadet officer. Recipients earn the grade of Cadet Second Lieutenant and gain additional privileges, including eligibility to enlist in the U.S. Air Force as an E-3 (Airman First Class). Lt Dyson’s achievement reflects not only personal determination but also the mentorship and support of his fellow cadets and senior members who guided him along the way.
