Baseball Season Wrap-up
Our season started off with a tournament at North Central where we went 2-2. We played pretty good baseball and played some pretty good competition. The next 8 games we lost. We had lost some of our confidence in our hitting and defense. Our pitching for the most part was consistent throughout the year. We as coaches made some changes right before spring break and picked up a big win against Lower Richland. We had 10 days off because of spring break and when the guys returned it was like a new found confidence. We won 2 more games and then had a tough loss to Cheraw where we were down 10-1 and made a great comeback only to lose 12-7. We played Lower Richland again and that was the best game. It was back and forth, and the game was tied going into the last at bat. We had runners on 1st and 2nd with 2 outs and got a walk-off base hit by Tyler Blakley. That scored Chase Huntley. We had some great pitching down the stretch by Zack Knisel, Blake Holmes, and Blakley. Seniors Knisel, Holmes, Dustin Hopkins, Bobby Semmler and Marshall Sheorn played key roles in the last part of the season. They were a big reason we had success late in the season. Over the course of the year, this team improved more than any team I have had the privilege to coach.
